Treatments:
I have expertise and experience in treating the full range of brain-based illnesses, including attention disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-based disorders, addiction, and substance abuse disorders. Regarding the latter, I am licensed to treat with buprenorphine (Suboxone) for opiate dependence. I have incorporated alternative non-invasive interventions when appropriate, such as Transcutaneous Vagal Nerve Stimulation (TvNS), ketamine treatment, and oxytocin.
If your difficulties falls outside the scope of my psychiatric treatment specialities, I can refer to you to other mental health professionals. I am connected with other providers who can provide more extensive or specialized treatments like EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation), holistic treatments like acupuncture, and more intensive substance abuse treatment, for example.
Specialty areas:
My focus is especially on complex situations where people need both psychotherapy and medication, (or at least the possibility of medication). These include people in recovery from substance use disorders, people with early childhood trauma, treatment resistant depression, and people with relational difficulties in addition to other challenges. Based on my work with UCSD’s PACE program, I also have expertise treating health-care professionals.
